Top 5 keyword to channel conversions week ending 14 Dec 2008

Looks like TV old, new and cable rules the roost this week. All of these keywords resulted in sessions longer than a sitcom (even including the commercials). Kinda makes you think that personal channels comprising socially selected on-demand video might be good thing to add to the TV mix, huh?

  1. the muppet show
  2. the l word video
  3. real sports
  4. xena: warrior princess: sins of the past online
  5. ray and neela er

Top 5 keyword to channel conversions week ending 07 Dec 2008

Okay, new idea for a weekly post here...I'm going to list the keywords where the according ffwd channel  we provided resulted in the longest sessions on ffwd.com that week. Without further ado, the list for the week ending Dec 7, 2008

  1. "married with children"
  2. "usain bolt on larry king"
  3. "benji schwimmer on dancing with the stars"
  4. "free online boston legal downloads"
  5. "king of queens s8 ep1"

No surprise that the top result is for a popular show now unavailable on broadcast TV. We have ffwd channels built specifically for audiences of those shows. More surprising is the list includes searches for specific episodes or guests on shows. The system is not designed to service a search for a specific event in a show and yet it is converting the specific search the more general interest of the viewer

resolved: ffwd wants to be heir apparent of the YouTube revolution

Okay now this is serious. There's little doubt that YouTube would have won this award in 2006 for proving anyone can create and share short form video thus creating the category of video sharing. Last year the winner was Kaltura who facilitates open source video sharing for the likes of Major League Baseball and the New York Public Library and Creative Commons. Because of company's like Kaltura, the future only holds more video content and distributed across more diverse sources. What we need next to perpetuate the democratization of short form video is to help viewers navigate the impending video explosion, precisely ffwd's mission. Please make a note to vote for us every day and please ask your friends to do the same, because every vote cast helps move history along.
